In many modern homes, high ceilings and open floor plans create a sense of space and airiness. While this creates a great impression, it can also cause sound problems in the form of echoes. 

What's the echo?

Echo can occur when sounds bounce off hard surfaces, such as walls and floors, creating a disturbing echo effect.

Fortunately, there are ways to reduce echo and improve sound comfort in the home. One of these is the use of acoustic artworks as part of the interior design✨️

ACOUSTIC ART PART OF THE SOLUTION 

Acoustic artworks are a beautiful way to complement traditional soundproofing techniques to eliminate echo. They are not only art and look beautiful, but they also soften sounds.

However, it is worth remembering that an acoustic artworks alone is often not enough to eliminate echo. It needs to be accompanied by other soft materials such as curtains, carpets and other acoustic panels. Together, these solutions create a space where sounds feel soft and echoes are no longer a distraction.

In my acoustic works, I use domestic Konto Oy ecological acoustic panels made from surface peat, which have excellent sound absorption properties.

The soft material and multi-layered structure are more effective at sound absorption than the smoother, denser acoustic panels.

When painting an acoustic board, some of the porous surface gets blocked, but the strong textured surface I used absorbs sound waves well compared to a smooth hard painted surface or a printed one afterwards.

The work is slightly separated from the wall by wooden slats, which also helps to improve the acoustics.

A mounting rail on the back makes it easy to securely mount the work on the wall.
